Pukkelpop 2012

Hi duuudess, what’s up?

Enjoying this beautiful summer time?

Tonight I’m going to Pukkelpop, which will be my first festival EVER! How exciting uh? (and how lame it’s only my first – I know!)

I had no idea what to wear, what to take with me (I mean, besides some inspiring photos from Coachella, which is a WORLD appart from what our festival look like – that I know!), so I went for some flowers, which seemed very appropriate to me. I also went to my friend Nadia, who is kind of my festival superstar, and always have very good tips.

This is it!

Have an AMAZING weekend budies!! xx

Neon Shoes

Hello sunshine!

How are you guys? Doesn’t this weather feel so great? Even though I’m stuck at the office, I’m so glad to be able to finally wear some summer dresses.

I think I have showed you my neon shoes before, but never in an outfit, so here we go!

This is what I wore last wednesday to go for drinks, and let me tell you, my shoes had their first moment of glory, since a few people came up to me to tell me they loved it!

Wearing: ZARA blazer & denim shirt – MANGO jeans – ALDO shoes

Do you like my neon shoes? xx

Food: Recipe #4

Hello guys!

It seems that lots of you enjoyed the recipe I gave you last week of my summer salad.

I thought I would give you another of my favorite summer salad recipe. With the summer weather we’ve been having for the past week, it’s all I want to eat.

It’s not too hard to make, very yummy, you won’t be hungry after (which happens sometimes when eating salads) and it’s super healthy!

You need:

- An egg
- Smoked salmon
- Cucumber
- Fennel
- Letuce
- Arugula
- Alfalfa sprouts
- Goat cheese (Chavrou)

- Lemon
- Olive oil
- Mustard
- Salt

- Vinegar

I put a poched egg on top because I find that delicious, but that’s up to you.

Follow the steps of how to make a poched egg right here. That’s how I learned how to do it, only a few months ago. It looks hard, but it’s pretty easy.

For the salad, slide in very thin pieces the cucumber, the smoked salmon and especially the fennel

Make your own dressing (always taste better)

I have no idea about the quantities though. Salad dressing is something I can do my eyes closed, but I’ve been doing it since many years. Since I was very little, my mom always asked me to make it to help her out in the kitchen :)

Mix all the ingredients together with the dressing. Place it on a plate.

Add some goat cheese (I use Chavrou) – but if you want to make it lighter, don’t add any.

Place your poched egg on top, and some alfalfa sprouts on top of everything to make it look pretty (I had put alfalfa sprouts in the mix of the salad as well)

And you’re done!

Hope you like it!

xx

Here is what I wore last night to diner with Monsieur de Vos. I wore the Marni for H&M scarf on my head, which I hadn’t done in a very long time. I really like the result, what do you think?

Confidence is not for sale

Having confidence in ourselves is an issue for more people than we think. And I do get that, growing up I had close to no confidence at all. I felt fat, I felt ugly or stupid. With years, most of those fears disappeared. Of course, I was still not 100% confident in myself. I always felt like I was different, in the ways I thought, acted or dressed (especially the way I dressed to be honest).

This screwed up with my mind a few times. Then one day, I realized. WHAT IF… What if my differences made me stronger? Made me stand out more? Made me fight for what I want even more? Which I did. Thanks to that, I have reached the goals I had in mind, which definitely helped with my self-confidence. Today, what I thought was some weaknesses, are some of the best things that made me the woman I am today. And the process of fighting, and be a stronger person is something I’m working on on an everyday basis.

I want to give a small example that automatically speaks to me because I definitely recognize myself in her. Leandra Medine, best known as the Man Repeller, created a blog to expose her way of dressing up, which are trends that usually repel men (her friends use to tell her that maybe, she couldn’t find a guy because of the way she was dressing up – gosh, how many times my friends told me that!). She took something that could have made her sad, unconfident, and made it to something big. Something huge.

I think most women should learn from that. Learn that they should accept what and who they are, and also accept their weaknesses. And make their weaknesses their strengths.

I took a sentence in the mail Vila sent me “The sensation you get when you’re wearing a look that feels like a natural extension of the style you want.” This spoke to me A LOT.

Even with what I just explained to you, I still have moments, just like everyone else, when I feel like shit. It can come from various reasons: not getting a job, the end of a relationship, failing a test,… When I feel that way, instead of crying/staying by myself feeling like shit, I dress up, either fancy, or crazy, something that I’ll feel EXTATIC about (especially with accessories… even if it’s wierd and unexpected), and either go walk around town, or go for drinks with my friends. The feeling won’t last for days, but at least for one night, I know I will feel great and confident.

Yes, I love crowns… a lot! You can call me Princess Lulu

I think Vila wants to give the same message for the women out there. When they asked me to talk about it, I was very excited to do so because I hope it could help a few girls out there. This is also part of the reason why I decided to become a fashion coach. The look in the eyes of a girl, looking at herself in the mirror, and see the new confidence with her new look, is something priceless.

Vila also made a short movie of models falling down runways, but they keep smiling. This is it guys, even when you fall, doesn’t matter how low, keep your head up high, and especially, keep fighting for what you want and who YOU are.

Printed tee

Hello guys!

Here is the outfit I wore yesterday to work. Easy, confortable, and with a summer feeling.

Plus, it’s perfect with this weather which goes from rainy to sunny in a minute! I was wearing my Exit white derbies that I LOVE sooo much, but I’m always so afraid to wear them because obviously I want them to stay white as long as possible.

Wearing: THAKOON FOR TARGET tee – ZARA jeans – EXIT shoes

Hope you like the outfit

Food: Recipe #3

Hello guys!

With the good weather coming back, I thought I would give you a yummy recipe for a summer salad.

I found the original recipe on Brussel’s Kitchen blog and it looked so delicious that I thought I had to try it out!

You need:

- Quinoa
- Garlic
- Cilantro
- Mint
- Cucumber
- Zuchini
- Shrimps
- Avocado
- Lime
- Soy Sauce
- Sesame oil

(I have no idea about the quantities because I never actually mesured it when doing it. I usually make a big salad and keep it for the next few days)

First of all, let me give you an advise about cooking quinoa: it is always better to let it rest in water for about 24 hours before cooking it. It will taste better and cook faster (I would advise you to stay in front of it while it cooks because it can easily be overcooked and not have that yummy crunchiness anymore)

When it’s cooked, let it rest and cool off in a big bowl.

Let the shrimp marinate with garlic and sesame oil. I switched the olive oil from the original recipe for sesame oil, not only because I find it so good, but also because I like the asian spirit it gives to the salad.

Cut the cucumber, zuchini and avocado in super small cubes

Make sure the avocado is ripe. It happened to me already twice to come back home with avocado, cut through it and realise it was as hard as a stone. So avocado never made it to my salad, but I’m sure it makes it even more delicious.

Start cooking the shrimps with in the sesame oil and garlic (be prepared, it smells SO good)

While it cooks, cut the mint and the cilantro in small pieces and make the dressing with the lime, the soy sauce and the sesame oil.

(I’d rather use REAL lime but they didn’t have any left that day at the grocery store)

When the shrimps are cooked, put all the ingredients in the bowl with the Quinoa

Add the dressing and TA-DA!

Let me know what you think if you try it out at home!
